I don’t expect it will change and the game mode itself doesn’t inspire me to shell out money to buy (in many cases) worthless toons.

The reason you’re actually seeing this is because it plays in to the Dev fantasy that there’s at lease one game mode that utilises your junk squads, albeit in the worst possible way. :D
