Purely speculation on my part but, IF the visual bug generates a figure pulled in by other functions, it is possible it effects gameplay. Again speculating, once fixed all will return to normal.
If this is the calculation as a whole that was changed then no because everything would remain relative (speaking about GW, I think it's the only place this is "used"). If it only effected certain toons then yes, could cause some issues
