I like the idea of a toggle system.
Helmeted characters (minus like, stormtrooper, royal guard, storm han, ect), should totally have a toggle!
And with them saying "Clone Sergeant- Phase One" seems to imply that they will implement phase two armor.
Which it's most notable visable difference was...
hmmm...
the helmets!
But toggle would be best.
Alas, the devs said Toggle would slow down the game a lot.
Hmm... I don't see how a simple toggle would slow the game down
That's what @capGamesArtist said."capGamesArtist;863411" wrote:
Hey all,
This is Noah. I'm a character artist for Capital Games and I happen to be the guy who made all your Clonetroopers.
When thinking about designing our characters, we decided that faces could be used as a tool. If a unit has a name, we generally give it a face. That way, even if someone doesn't know who Rex is, they can see at first glance that he's different from another Clonetrooper because he isn't wearing a helmet. And conversely we try to hide the faces of more generic characters. That's why it's a bit hard to see the Imperial Officer's face or why we've covered up the faces of our Hoth Rebels. Its not a hard and fast rule for us, but something that we try to think about when designing to draw a distinction between named and generic characters.
Hopefully that sheds some light on our thought process
Now, a toggle is an interesting idea. Technologically I'm sure we could pull it off, but it could, depending on your phone, make things run a bit slower because of the additional draw calls and/or it would bloat file sizes. And, Clones are already some of our most expensive units.
But even if performance wasn't a concern, I'd still come down against it. Like I mentioned above, the way a character looks at first glance is important to us. If the way a character looks is changing, that could be confusing for a player in battle. Feel free to chide me over how confusing the jawas are :p

Yeah I've seen that post before. I saw when it was first made on the original thread. Anyway, we'll see how gar Saxon looks tomorrow. If he does indeed wear his helmet, I see no need for the clones to not wear theirs during combat.
