Othewise Maul would not he a Sith if it was his “latest” canon iteration. He would be simply Maul (like in Rebels). The game has characters from across their chronological timelines. And for most of Kallus’s timeline on Rebels post S2 he is an Imperial and a Rebel. So Empire. Lightside... yeah... it happens
