Those bonus shards you mentioned might have been from the community event, we got DTMG, Malicos, and Fury shards for it.
As for DTMG, he's in Proving Grounds now and therefore I don't think his shards pop up in Conquest Store anymore. You could earn him in 4 months there, and the fight isn't as hard as some. Good luck!
