1 single zeta on Darth maul - RNG nightmare, OP.
0 zeta on Rex triple cleanse - OP
1 zeta on a Finn resistance team, largely useless.
4 zetas on a first order squad - largely useless.
'balance'
4 zeta FO is far from useless. Its about mods & knowing how to order your turns. Same with Resistance.
Useless isn't the correct term, I routinely score 2M-3M on phase 2 of AAT.
Might change my tone a little, it's not that FO are 'useless', it's that zauls single zeta is GROSSLY overpowered.
There is nothing you can do against zaul, particularly if SA is on that team as well.
Full whale style mods won't get you to outspeed a SA under a zaul lead.
Here is how arena goes.
I press 'ATTACK', put my phone down, go grab a coffee/drink or whatever (to give the AI enough time for the entire sith team to have 2x turns each, while wondering if any of my toons avoided palps AOE STUN, or mauls AOE DAZE or dns AOE CD INCREASE.
I come back to find occasionally FOO or FOTP dead. If not they can only use their basics.
Fun? It can be, particularly if FOO doesn't get stunned and can use marching orders on FOTP, who can then hopefully OHKO palp or maul with his gun down special.
For that to work it has to 1. Not be dodged AND 2. Call an assist.
If the OHKO doesn't work it's GG.
If you're not beating Zaul, at least some of the time, with a maxed FO team then you're doing something wrong. Zaul can be challenging but easily beaten by just about any meta out there currently. Zaul strength is not its defense. Its an offense machine. There is no completely unbeatable team anymore. Unlike the old Wiggs meta, that was OP... at least Zaul can be countered
Nah, Zaul with good mods and Zavage or maxed SA is a RNG nightmare for anyone but Rex. That's why everyone goes Rex, nothing else is remotely reliable against the top-end Zauls .
That's not true at all. DN lead is very viable because the absence of crits totally bypasses some of a Maul's leader advantage and also negates some of Rex's value. Granted the team may tank overnight but they can win on offense very easily. R2 has opened it up a little right now too; I got bored with Rex and Maul and went with GK, R2, DN, Chaze and it's very strong against Maul squads. R2 helps obviously but I also ran it with Barris and did fine with it. My Chirrut is 250 speed so that helps a little too.
Not true at all is not a valid statement given most people's teams. For the big non-Zaul teams - ZGJ, FO, Zader, Wiggs/Chaze (or even other Zaul), Zaul is a RNG nightmare that's why so many switched to Rex. When you were fighting Zaul even with better mods, better gear and the right strategy you would still lose often based on pure RNG.
Obviously now that there's a toon released less than a week ago to specifically counter Maul, there will be new comps that work.
The main point still remains - Rex was the solution to a problem, Rex was never a problem in an of itself. It became popular because it was the most reliable counter to a team that was temporarily OP.
