The gear crunch won't be changed, it's just shifted. It's the relic crunch now. (Or gear crunch for relic materials)
I know, many are arguing about matchmaking, but I can understand, that that's something, that isn't easy to fix. Maybe not at all fix-able. There will always be people, who don't like it.
Conquest isn't that bad, if there wasn't that modding thing. Introducing SIMs to assault battles and all the other daily event crap would be a super easy and helpful fix.
What thread am I in?
