Executor Capital Ship - who goes first in mirror matches

Kinda as the title says. Can anyone shed light if there is something I’m missing that would explain why 99% of the time, the opponent capital ship always attacks first in arena? I have R9 Piett, sa...

I came here to say something very similar. Start a ship battle, my opponent goes first, watch my Xanadu Blood or Punishing One get annihilated, then wait for 9 1/2 mins until I can watch it happen again. Occasionally I win despite going 2nd, occasionally, if I somehow get a dodge. I hate ships. If they were removed from the game I wouldn't miss them.
