I buy them when I see them. Regardless of the 300 crystals, I hate farming for such a necessary gear. I was hurting for mk4 keypads for a while, now I have 4 complete and 120 saved up. Since I started in January, I've had a lot of toons to gear for events and mod challenges. Now that I'm mostly done meeting the requirements I can actually save gear. It gets a lot easier when you are able to focus on one or two, hence why the long time players are well stocked on many types. End game usually always tight on stun guns and cuffs

Buying them for 300 crystals in shipments is absolutely the best way to go. Compare to stun cuffs... assuming the drop rate is the same (and ignoring that there is one 8 energy node for coasters, while all stun cuffs nodes are at least 10) then buying 2.5 completed coasters (the same as 50 salvage) will cost you 750, while a complete stun cuffs (50 salvage) is 1400. It makes much more sense to farm for stun cuffs or mk5 stun guns while simple buying the completed coasters.

Also, coasters salvage can be found in ship shipments (5 salvage for 550 currency... I think)

Grind them out on the node with the yellow orbs.... this is stupid of all the gear to whine about.

After playing for 18 months they are still the bane of my existence. Not at all to be dismissed. Like 30 something characters I have still need them. I can usually gear up any toon I unlock to gear 6-8 immediately, but mk 3 holos stop that dead in its tracks.

Also the node that drops holos, and golden eyeballs is not dropping the useful golden eyeball. It's dropping the version you get tons of for free from challenges. You should never farm those.

To whoever said they only show up for new players, I get some every other day or so and have been level 85 for 6 months.

They still show up in regular shipments, but below level 60 you can buy gold circles for GUILD currency.
