I still think a more refined approach will prevent mismatches. My Arena had two players that were clearly head and shoulders above the rest and one that was clearly at the bottom.
Sure enough the two 2-0s were the guys with the min-maxed rosters and the 0-3 was the guy with a bad one.
Anything that narrows the disparity between top and bottom is good.
