I'm in division 3 and have yet to face someone that sets more than six defenses, however I recognize that people have stated it's possible. The number of defenses being set should be consistent within division regardless of whether or not you're playing an opponent "up" a division. If this is contributing to higher scores that needs to be addressed as well.
