He didn’t say 100% of the time match making is not fair. His statement simply means it’s not always fair, which is true.- tiffer725 years agoSeasoned Newcomer

Sorry, are you saying it is fair 100% of the time? "Natetiffer;c-2142331" wrote:

No. Not saying anything other than it's silly to claim all matchmaking is 100% unfair."TVF;c-2142341" wrote:

That's not what he said."Scuttlebutt;c-2142198" wrote:

All this has v little to do with the fact that large deviations in GP match ups have a bearing on the match in so far as the greater GP has more potential viable toons to use for counters.
Also no, that's not source.
Your claim: "On average round winners use far less than 80 characters"
And i then asked for source.
Source me.
I wouldn’t bother arguing about matchmaking with waqui. This is the same person that defended the original matchmaking system which counted total GP. This person would probably defend any system CG produces no matter how irrelevant (like matching based on ally tokens in stash).
Back then when people claimed the MM was unfair I argued that it was fair - which it was. The current system is also fair and it yields far more even matches than before championships were introduced.
If you were traumatised by those past discussions you have my sincere apologies. I didn't mean to cause such trauma to you."TVF;c-2142261" wrote:

This is hands down the most useless and asinine contribution to this thread. No one gained anything from this being said.
What natetiffer said is perfectly true, plain to understand and even then spoken in phrase so not even presented as an 'accurate stat'"TVF;c-2142341" wrote:

This is a lie. Or you might have misunderstood, in which case this is jusr grossly imcorrect.
In no world does "not fair 100% of the time" = "100% unfair"
Not fair 100% of the time can still mean fair 99% of the time.
Not every thread needs a tvf comment, this one didnt.
Also waqui, thats not how 'source' works but i guess we're done because that doesn't seem to be something i can convey."Vi1teran_;c-2142201" wrote:

We're discussing more than this one point.
Check GAC histories. Yes, players have more teams available, but round winners most often use the same teams over and over again to win. Just check your own GAC history."Lysandrax;c-2142142" wrote:

You have one above. You may argue that it's only a small sample, but feel free to check more of your own GAC history or other players' GAC histories. I'm quite sure, you will see similar results.
Last time we discussed this I gave you more statistics. In 18 of my own rounds the winners used 71-72 characters on average (div. 1 - 7 defensive squads). Back then I also checked 9 rounds of your GAC history. 68 on average back then.
You are using a logical fallacy to prove your premise. The fact that people use the same characters the majority of the time doesn't prove they don’t have an advantage if the have more viable characters.
Did I claim that they don't? My claim is only that round winners rarely use all those extra teams they have access to to win. I'm sure you understand the difference."Vi1teran_;c-2142201" wrote:
Only that there is little deviation in defence. I'll use myself as an example, the fact that my gear 10-11 Imp troopers (4 of which are outside my top 80) are able to take out 3-4 common gear 12 teams allows me to put a team on def I would otherwise have to save for a counter.
What exactly are you trying to prove? That you also use characters from outside your top-X? Yes, most players - if not all - do."Vi1teran_;c-2142201" wrote:
Also, if the winners for the most part use less than 75 characters but match ups are based on 80 I'd suggest either people with the best 70 have an advantage or the next 5-10 can be relevant. To me that means either we should have more divisions or a tweak to match making.
Still: matching by top-X GP (whether X is 80 or 70) is pretty close to matching by the GP of the characters actually used to win.
Yes, adding one more division would be fine."Natetiffer;c-2142236" wrote:

What CG need to realise is that we will not invest in the game if they don't
I am with TFV on this one. I had to read this sentence over and over again to get it's real meaning. I at first read it that match making is always unfair all of the time. Then I also read it that it's not fair some of the time but sometimes it is."DadKev;c-2142604" wrote:

This.
Lol at the salt over a simple misunderstanding though."chmoAr0ufif0u;c-2141505" wrote:
I got matched up against guys with 2 GL (i have one) and a *total* difference of 1.5m gp. I am at 4.8 against 6.2m. Go figure...
Though.. its (allegedly) the 80 top toons that are taken into consideration when matchmaking algo runs.
If that is the case then it's time they fix their algo. The average player does not have 80 well geared toons. Some of the people I have faced I can guarantee he top 80 of theirs are far far better than my top 80 lol.
