I don't think people give a damn about the shards. It's the Zeta/Omega that they cry - for good reason - about. Sure, the event will come back, but still. Soup sandwich.
Same thing, though. Event will be back in a few days and they can get those then. It's not like the observant people are getting extra mats because of it.
