Phase one opens. You use absolutely everything you have on that one phase. 24 hours later if you got at least one star it closes. You're done with it. You don't touch it again. All your characters refresh, and you use everything on phase 2 in that new 24 hr window.
If you start phase 1, and fail to get at least 1 star in 24 hour when the phase is supposed to close you just repeat that phase instead. All your toons refresh, and you add more points. But now you can't get to phase 6 because you only get 6 24 hr periods. If you need 2 of them to get through a phase then there is no way to rush though and catch up.
