Hard Nodes increased to 5 refreshes!!! but why???

As exciting as I find the opportunity to work on some of the hard node exclusive characters, like Shoretrooper and DN. Im left wondering why we have received this increase and for a limited time only?

An increase in hard node refreshes has nothing to do with the current CLS event, if it did they would have just focused on the relevant nodes. So it leads me to believe that the devs are giving us a chance to farm hard node exclusive characters for an upcoming event, probably for territory battles. The available hard node exclusives are, please correct me if I have left anything off:

Clone Sargent – Phase 1
General Veers
Ewok Scout
First Order Stormtrooper
First Order Tie Pilot
Lobot
URoRRuR’R’R
Shoretrooper
Darth Nihilis
Hoth Rebel Soldier
Director Krennic

Looking at that list I can really only find 3 characters that might be relevant moving forward with Luke's story or with territory battles on Hoth. I think Hoth Rebel Soldier is the obvious choise, and then maybe Lobot and Ewok Scout for a later ROTJ Luke event possibly???

Or do you think this is to help us get ready for The Last Jedi later this year, in which case the First Order options might be better to farm??

I dont know what to think, what are your thoughts on the hard node increase and who will you be farming?? I know Im currently working on Shoretrooper and DN but I think Hoth Soldier might need to be swapped in.
  • This increase is actually one of the best updates we've had a in a while
  • I like this change. It doesn't make farming hard node characters effortless, but it does make a significant difference. A single hard node toon is an 11 month farm with average RNG starting from scratch. That's a bit of an unreasonable timeline especially for some toons that are hard node only, and aren't even that good. This cuts a single hard node toon down to a 6.5 month farm approximately. A bit more palatable.

    It also makes refreshing the node a bit more of a deal. 3 shards for 150 crystals is the going price for established toons. Basically 1 for 50 in a three pack. With a 33% drop rate on shards refreshing a 3 battle hard node for 50 crystals should get you the same return on average of 1 shard for 50 crystals... on average.

    But you're paying for a lottery ticket instead of a sure thing. Over time it might even out but you're going to get a lot of goose eggs mixed in. Refreshing 5 battles should average out to 1.67 shards for 50. It's a much better deal over time. You get a better deal over time if you have the stomach for some occasionally bad RNG.

    I'm glad the devs did this, and I think it's a change that will be made permanent if lots of people start refreshing hard nodes on the regular. (I have NEVER refreshed hard nodes, but as soon as I finish Old Ben and have spare crystals I will every day.) It will put a huge crimp on gear farming by sucking up massive amounts of energy, but I'm hoping that the gear rewards for Territory Battles are intended to fill that void. We shall see.
  • The shift in cost of shard:crystal is definately improved if you do refreshes on hard nodes, and I def agree that 5 attempts is a great change and I hope its here to stay.

    I'm 0/15 with DN. Haven't gotten a shard since the change. Previously I never went 2 days without getting at least 1 shard out of 6. Hopefully it's just RNG.......hopefully.

    I'm actually unhappy, since I JUST finished 7* Krennic a day before the hard node increase...
  • I'm thinking that since g12 is tied to 7*, it's a way to get the single hard node farms done a little faster.

    I believe they said the same thing about the extra energy refresh. They probably say that so they can test it and see how it goes. if they take it back they warned us, if they dont everyone wins.

    We only needed one thing, no more limits just like cantinas. Spending months farming a toon is just ridiculous.
