Hera zeta - Recommendation

I would just like to state for the record that the dispel in the zeta ability is inconsistent with the gameplay mechanics of other characters like bastila Shan, shaak ti and others. This greatly diminishes the value of the Hera zeta. I understand that those characters cleanse first, then call to assist (on abilities that don't even require a zeta mind you) but Hera's ability somehow works in the opposite direction. I recommend we just bring her in line with the other characters in the game who have a dispel / call to assist.

Let's compare these three dispel / call to assist mechanics:

Shaak Ti's omega ability Assault Team, dispels ALL debuffs on ALL allies! Then it calls all clones to assist, also buffs them with crit chance / speed & tenacity up / crit immunity depending on their role for 3 turns! Buffs for everyone! Woohoo! (3 turn cooldown)
Bastila Shan's omega ability Rally, dispels ALL debuffs on one ally and calls them to assist (no faction requirements whatsoever!) giving offense up, defense up, speed up, accuracy up, and critical chance up for 3 turns. Holy buffs Batman! (4 turn cooldown)
Hera's ZETA ability Play to Strengths, gives a single Phoenix member 50% turn meter gain an extra 25% potency buff on this one attack with a one turn cooldown reduction. Are you dazed or stunned? Sorry... you don't get any of those things. Nothing. You stand there and you Play to Your Weaknesses. Not a phoenix member? No worries, you still do more damage and get 25% potency on this one attack. You're welcome. (3 turn cooldown)

Hopefully we can do our girl some justice. I know Kanan would appreciate :) thanks
  • She is not over powered, but when you are first starting the Phoenix squad is such a pain, it takes a long time to get to a point you can actually beat them, hera is a stepping stone, the Phoenix team basically folds up once you start getting better teams and that's their purpose, they should be less effective then other teams because they are as effective as they need to be in early game, if she had to much more it would break a balance in the early game

Let me put this in a different context. It might not land but hopefully it does.

In any game, the beginning phases are generally to teach you the mechanics and to help you understand how things are going to play out. As you progress, new and more detailed mechanics are added which complicate your experience and hopefully make achievements more rewarding as you (or your community ) have "solved the puzzle" or at least been able to fold the new content into a category you can plan for. Without redesigning your game, the only new information / content generally consists of new interpretations of what you know or are a very well played layer on top of what you know. (Relics are a good example of this second point).

I am not saying that Hera, in her early form, shouldn't have the ability to dispel her Phoenix allies before calling them to assist. I'm saying it is setting a precedent that gets immediately changed with Bastila, Hoda, Shaak Ti, etc. And if early game is to be a mechanical tutorial, this creates a very obvious conflict of said mechanic. I also understand these aren't "early" game characters. So in this case, I think it's all the more important to call this specific issue out in the kit which it currently doesn't. Clarity would go a long way. And for us older players, having the mechanic adjusted (even if it's to be as intended) is in direct conflict to years of game experience and a very sharp poke in the eye. Again, not saying that it shouldnt' be this way, I'm just saying it's a very unique mechanic that is in direct conflict with every other similar mechanic in the game today. If you want to get in the actual weeds, message me on discord Clash#0001

    Please change my view.
  • i'm reviving this because i'd really like the devs to reconsider this change. Phoenix actually have a use in the game, with the secrets and shadows assault battle. i'm one of the few silly people that relic'd and zeta'd my whole phoenix squad because of that and fleet. The patch in September to "fix" her ability is really odd considering that it had worked as a cleanse that also called an assist since they first gave her the zeta. So it had been working the same as other toons that have a cleanse+assist ability for 3 years. I even went as far as putting in a support ticket for a refund of the zeta because its completely useless now and was denied. :( i'd rather it be un-"fixed" though. Hoping a dev or someone with some clout will see this and consider it.

Sadly I don’t think the @CG_Doja_Fett and company will ever see this. It’s too niche and not asked by the whales which is the bulk of the changes that get made sadly. I will always hold out hope but I won’t ever get too excited about it.
