It definitely doesn't help that key stars in the storyline don't have ships (CLS, Han, Porkins, etc.). My fleet arena top 50 is all Tarkin and Thrawn, but mostly Thrawn. Why? Because you can get to Thrawn's ultimate quicker. I've seen a couple people using Geos as their front three, once in a while someone has Sun Fac in reinforcements, but haven't seen an Ackbar stay in the top 50 for very long.
My bug ships are all 7*, but I'm still building up my last pilot to 7*. The pilots are only level 53ish so I'm not gonna try putting them in. (Sure would be nice to get a higher tier credit heist for all the things we are having to do.) Regardless, it depends on what your fleet shard is doing as to what you should do. If you get too far away from the standard front, people will want to hit you more because your fleet is different.
