Power creep is to be expected. It's how the game makes money.
I also disagree with the second part. CLS provides a good amount of synergy with rebels. He can be used without them, but the same has long been true of other strong characters. Nihilus and Thrawn, for example, were frequently used in non-synergy teams prior to CLS.
Cls has good synergy with everyone. I'm ok with DK because he is a counter to very tough toons like cls. My problem is why would someone not want to use cls?
