What was explained to me is that since the payout times are per player based on their time zone, players will coordinate to a certain extent because it's not a 0-sum game like in most competitive sports. If my payout is at 6pm est, and someone else is in Vancouver and has payout at 9pm est, there is no reason we should be competing at the same time.
