Omega's generally better, because she has BB synergy and gives Wrecker a pre-Taunt, but any of the above mentioned clones do well to fill out the roster until you have Omega - but she is the ideal fifth for the team.
From what I'm aware of, Cody or Rex make good substitutes for Omega (I'm assuming it's her you're leaving out)

Yup, as OutrunWhistle said, Cody makes an OK 5th. If you don't have a 5th BB character at relic level; Cody, Cpt Rex, Shaak Ti, Padme or Enfys Nest are all workable options.

Eventually you’ll want to farm everything, including Omega.

I used bad batch exclusively for my primary team for 6 months. All mine are r5 or higher and very fast. I use captain rex as 5th unit almost always. Hes fast. He has daze. He has a stun. If in arena, you should put rex with phoenix, but otherwise BB. I have seen shaak ti with BB but not as impressed as rex. The only other option is omega due to getting pre taunt. So if you need to use 5 galatic republic units or 5 BB then you must use Omega. I don't know of new team comps with the BB fugitives yet. I imagine there isn't a ton of synergy between them but could be wrong. I have all zetas on them. In 3v3 arena, use Hunter, echo, tech. You can win against most non GL teams. They are good up to mid game then will fall off against teams like DR, gungans, aphra, inq.
