The stars barely contribute difficulty, gear is essential but if you're activating and promoting 20 toons at once and farm 4-5 teams worth of gear and splashing water everywhere... You're gonna have a bad day... Mmkay
Simplify your focus and work solely on 1-2 toons at a time until they're just waiting for raid specific gear, then move to the next. You'll still grind, but you'll be methodical about it and save a bunch of resources in the long run.
Stop activating and promoting until you're in the position to gear, or unless it's for an event, at which case G7-9 is typically enough and easily obtainable. Did I mention modding? Swap your arena mods to event toons, then back again when you beat it.
F2P... P2P... There's no difference in the process except the time it takes. I don't buy gear, I farm it. They buy gear and get farmed. We're all farmers, so grab your mules and get to work as the farmer plows his fields 1-2 horse at a time.
