I don’t think they are crooks. Nor are people spending billions any more. Last year the game took less than $100 million for the first time and that’s unlikely to go in any direction than down. That’s the problem. Their new game tanked and their old cash cow is starting to look a little wrinkled around the udders. People are still spending enough to make the game supportable but I’m not sure that the team will have the capacity they used to. Pure speculation on my part but I’m finding it increasingly hard to imagine anyone in the studio caring an awful lot about the future of the game.
We don’t know that it dipped below $100M. The only place I could find that number was on statista, and its previous year data is wrong so can’t really trust it.
