Kid is heartbroken

If your kid has been playing for months then they could start a new account with adult tag and install it in your new device.
Would be better if they played outside instead of a game in its decline.

I think the age is actually linked to the device, not the account. On android, I think you can log out, uninstall, reinstall, play the guest account and sign in with an older age, then logout of the guest account and sign back in with the Google account. On Apple, you might have to change something in Game Center.

Other options are just to start a new account, underage or otherwise. There's not a lot of progress after only a few months, and kids are pretty resilient.

Of course it would, OP could totally "take over the account" right now. Claim it as his, send in proof of his age.

Consider this blessing. Uninstall the game and tell your kid to go play almost any other game out there.

I think there's a way to change the account type if you write to support. but out of curiosity, isn't it indicated somewhere what are the limitations of an underage account?

i am not sure i understand - what would be the procedure ? and months in this case is over 18 with progress towards first GL

logout of what ?
uninstall and reinstall the game ?
Log back in with what ?

And this doesn't lose 18 months of progress?
