Enjoyable episode. The sonic bomb coming from Slave 1 made me whoop out loud. Fantastic call back to a memorable scene in the prequels. Mando turning Gideon’s own speech against him was a good choice too.
Nice nod to “legends” With the name Valin. Would love to see Corran (and the other council members become canon but guess it’s unlikely). Still praying for an announcement of a Yuuzhan Vong series.

My only concern with it was it felt to me like it didn’t move the story along much (they could have got the coordinates any which way) which makes me nervous for a rushed finale as there are still a lot of answers needed: -
Grogu’s fate - possible new Jedi who “heard” him from the seeing stone/return of Ashoka - Moff Gideon’s fate - Any repercussions from Mando removing his helmet - What do they need Grogu’s blood for - presumably cloning but who/what? - Thrawn
Appreciate this doesn’t have to all be answered in this seasons finale but there seems a lot cover in less than an hour.
But we’ve not been let down in a single episode yet. I’m sure Filoni and Favereau won’t ruin a finale after such a kick ass season.
I think exactly what the director/writers hoped. I had never looked up the actor playing Mando so I legit had no idea what he might look like under the helmet. I wasn't exactly surprised, because I had so little expectation of anything. There was a bit of surprise at the way his facial hair seems unkempt, since he seems like such an organized, careful warrior I would expect that to carry over to other parts of his personality. Interesting that it didn't. I suppose I expected a white guy, and yeah, he looks like a white guy since I remember his childhood self being portrayed with light skin, so no surprise there. Otherwise, I didn't really have expectations and it was just ... interesting. A moment to get to know him better.
It was a great way, also, to show how much Grogu means to Mando. This is what he would never do, yet for Grogu, he did it anyway. That's exactly what Mayfield was saying in the truck: there's always something you care about more than your ethics. What is that? For Mando, the question wasn't merely asked, it was answered in this episode.
I did predict that they would gather a team to make an attempt to get Grogu back during this episode, then have their plan foiled (but learn something in the attempt), and have to make a new, now more informed attempt in Episode 8. I also predicted some planning/ exposition. None of that came to pass. I made some good predictions for Ep5 & Ep6, but ultimately I called Ep7 pretty wrong.
On the one hand, I'm glad the writers are keeping me on my toes & aren't being TOO predictable. On the other hand... I'm with Affy: Not nearly enough got accomplished this episode. I'm concerned that the final episode will be a let down with either the rescue being too quick & easy (b/c of limited time in the episode) or a huge number of things left unresolved -- possibly even with Grogu staying in Gideon's possession at the end of the season.
Now, of course since the episodes aren't forced to have any particular length, they could also do something 70 minutes long or so and that would give them time to do what they would otherwise have had to have done over two episodes. Still, I don't really expect a double-length episode.
So now I'm thinking that Grogu staying in Imperial Control is going to be the cliffhanger to get us to watch the beginning of next season.
In fact, now I'm thinking that whatever Jedi heard Grogu is going to show up at the **end** of the episode to help get Grogu back next season rather than the beginning to help this season.
We'll see, I guess.
