The GG stats are just a picture of where we are now - they don't indicate where the game is going...and if you look at the zDM trend it's not favorable - he's losing leader % points over the past few weeks. zDM was near 50% at one point, but is steadily losing ground.
Unless you feel the OP is making false statements, he's saying the zDM wave came in....and it has been extinguished as players have adjusted. The GG stats are generally supporting this as the zDM leader % is coming down over time.
