It's not a scam, but like everything else monetized about this game, its definitely unethical.
Its not unethical, its what the games economy will support. Its totally disgusting to you and me, but we dont HAVE to buy it, just like I dont have to buy a car for $200,000, but other people will, and thats why there are $200,000 cars.
I dont have a problem with the cost of things in the game, my problem comes from lack of content to use it in, so thats why I dont spend anymore. Dont like...then dont buy. Simple as that.
Disagree. Everything about freemium is unethical because they are purposefully inducing and preying on addiction. Freemium games are intended to provide the same rush as gambling. That said, an argument can be made that, in some sense, freemium games are worse than gambling: real money goes in but can never come out. In the world of real-money poker, players are pitted against one another. The casino’s rake is best seen as a rental fee, or a service fee for providing players a venue. The rake is predictable and fair; players can choose to go elsewhere if they feel it is too high. The freemium rake is 100% and always will be.
If this game is so unethical why are you still playing it.
Sunk cost fallacy after years of "purposefully inducing and preying on addiction". Duh."ZAP;c-2090994" wrote:

Sunk cost fallacy after years of "purposefully inducing and preying on addiction". Duh.
Fallacy.
Gotcha.
Without that fallacy, freemium games wouldn’t be a fraction as profitable as they are.
I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like TVF was questioning the fallacy itself, but that someone would use it as their "reason" for continuing to play a game. If you recognize that you have been sucked into such a situation, why have you not left? At that point it doesn't become the fallacy, but something else (probably addiction, but also maybe just trolling the internet)."littleMAC77;c-2091048" wrote:

Plenty of addicts recognize they have a problem. It may take some time after that for them to actually then quit.
I’m addicted to this game in a couple of ways, luckily for me it’s not problematic and I’m enjoying it. Not everyone is the same ?♂️
Exactly my point, i do not believe the continued play of a game you believe to be predatory and no fun is because of some theory to explain why humans are not the perfect rational beings that economists want to people to be.
There’s been an evolution to video games and it’s not a positive evolution, particularly with freemium mobile games.

Generalization, not directed at any specific poster.
I believe the claims of addiction and sunken cost as the reason people are still playing despite all the reasons they have not to as much as I believe the claims here about OCD.
Then why do gaming developers use this in game design and teach this psychology to other gaming developers if it’s nonsense?
If you’re interested, probably not, but if you are there is a lot of research on the evolution of gaming and it’s pretty interesting.
Because those techniques are used everywhere. The color of your car, the amount of time an advertisement is on the air, the feel and lines of any new product. they are all designed and based on research of people reactions and brain chemistry, and everything. That how advertisements/sales works. any pure leisure thing needs to tap into that research as much as they can, and since games are a combination of many things, they use "every trick in the bag" to make each one to get the most out of it.
mobile gaming is a huge marketplace with many many many (and one more, many) copies of each game. they are all trying to get everyone to pick them over the others. if that means using the right colors and flash, or researching the best "timing" for things, the big companies will do it. just like every other company out there trying to sell you something, they want to make sure they are maximizing their investments, so a base fund in that research allows them to put the best knowledge out in each endeavour."Darth;d-227637" wrote:
THEE worst packs ever brought to this game or any other free to play mobile game ever! $75 for 6 mods 4 of which don’t even have a speed secondary?!??..... hahahahaha WOW! Anybody who defends this is a joke!
Don't worry, TVF is on his way to tell you that you don't need to buy them and you can just ignore them and we should all just shut our mouth when CG throws some unethical (considering the current situation) cash grab at us.

what's the unethical part?
Duh, it is unethical to continue selling your goods and services during a pandemic, every company is supposed to just give things away for free, or atleast a heavily reduced price.
I’ve been enjoying my 50 cent grande mocha lattes from Starbucks- I love the gold mod with zero speed on it for a "specifically designed" set. And it costs 74 dollars lol
- Not sure how you haven't seen this before, but yah it's always fun to get matched up in GAC against someone who has a lot of +30 speed mods that aren't arrows
- curtismathewRising NewcomerI’ve never seen more than base speed 5 as a secondary. Clearly I’ve not been looking at the packs enough, but they aren’t available anywhere else!
