Actually that's not true. Marquees are free.
Think of this as a business plan. We have seen this before. They need to stock the waters and give options. Then they will open up a legendary or hero that will require those toons to be swept up.
But they also have been focusing on gear and other way to let players advance.
What I believe Threx meant was that the money goes to starring and gearing the marquee toons after acquisition but prior to them becoming node farmable. Like how high star new marquee toons are made to be required in late phase TB but aren’t on any nodes yet.
