I like this idea - but that's not what the Flash Events are designed to do. They are designed to make you log in and play at times when you normally wouldn't - that's why their times don't lineup with other things (for most people) like Bonus Energy times (which are designed to do the same), guild resets, shop resets, etc. The times of all of the above thing are intentionally staggered to bait players into logging in as many times as possible throughout the day.
It's not about "gifting" the players with more gear (there are simpler ways to do that) - it's about generating more opportunities for income by increasing required log ins.
