There are 2 ways to continue playing as your guest account.
1) You create a new google play ID, log in to the guest account with new ID and merge the guest account. You can now proceed to access this account via any device through this new google play ID.
2) You find the device ID associated with this guest account, then modify the ID of your new device to match that guest account device ID. You can now proceed to access the guest account via any device that has had its ID changed to that.

If your device ID is still the same as before, you should be able to log into your guest account. I can only assume that your 'rebooting' somehow changed your device ID and thus render your guest account lost.
