We've all basically known for a long time now what we would most likely need for the event. Everyone should have used double drops for the vets and been saving their resources. Between arena and fleet arena Ive been able to save up a little over 18k crystals while still using 3 refreshes for each normal energy and cantina energy every day. I have a total of 288 shards to go in the next 15/16 days (last day of the event) to farm their shards in both cantina and shipments. It's all about planning your resources carefully. We've had way more time to farm the vets than we did the Phoenix toons. So if you're someone who's focused on the vets since the Rey event was announced then you should be fine even as a FTP player
I spent spring, summer and fall farming shards for my First Order characters to 7 stars in anticipation for the movie's release.
I've been farming Veteran smugglers since they've been on Cantina. During double drops I've been purchasing cantina refreshes at 100 crystals and 200 crystals. I have been using all my cantina points on the smugglers. And I've only just have Veteran Han at 6 stars and Veteran Chewie at 4 stars. Maybe my RNG is terrible, I've noticed my Chewie drop rate is just plain bad.
I also saved 7500 crystals, even If I used all my crystals to purchase veteran shards that would only get me around 85-88 shards
But let's not kid ourselves, even with more advance warning then say the Thrawn event. This is a Pay 2 Win event. Free 2 play players never had a chance.
