This sounds just like modified Galactic War to me. Grind your way through waves of battles until you hit the wall or complete it for the day, with a few character shards here and there. Nothing innovative there, really. I would rather see in-guild pvp introduced to entertain myself with real people and the squads they prepare for my teams.
And you can put my hand in the fire telling you already that crystal rewards are not going to be handed out that easily - they weren't even in tournament prizes iirc -, nor in those high amounts you suggest.
