We need to mention kyrotech bottleneck.
It feels absolutely absurd that every single new character needs hundreds of them at g8 or g9, usually 300 by g11. I'm unlocking characters—sometimes legendaries—that will sit idle at g8 because I just don't have the kyros for them. That's not fun. It's frustrating.
I'm a 4.3 mil account, mostly the way to my first GL, JML. And I'm looking at GL Leia, and I calculate that I would need 2400 additional kyros to get her. I can farm maybe 5 a day, and I can get a few more when GAC currency comes in. But the mountain of kyros looks so insurmountable that I'm just about ready to give up and quit the game. I have other games to play that don't feel actively punitive.
And then CG pours salt in the wound by yanking one of the very few ABs that I can beat challenge tiers in, invalidating my past investments and making sure that I get even fewer resources.
The number of needed kyros keeps climbing exponentially, and the amount we're getting is decreasing. CG's decisions almost always feel deliberately anti-player.

It looks like Kyro will be on offer for Episode Currency - along with some kyro rewards. It looks like everyone is getting 41000 episode currency for completing the free rewards track, which is supposed to be able to be done just by playing as you normally would. So if you complete the free track and spend ALL of your episode currency on Kyros that would be 234 kyro salvage, in addition to the 12 of each type that you'll get as a reward - add that to the 90 kyro per month you get for doing dailies and you're sitting at 348 - which is 52 shy of bringing a marquee from G1 to G13. That's before spending any of your GET or GAC currency on kyros which is where most people are sending those currencies.
I don't expect people will always spend all of their EC on kyro, but the option is there if you need it. Also, we don't know what the Episode 1 track will look like.
At first glance it's very possible that this will improve things for everyone - at least out of the gate. If the changes bring MORE rewards than we were getting before after everything is factored in, this could very well be a boon to players. We'll still need to see how it plays out, but there's plenty of room for this to be a genuine win for players.I'm restraining myself from saying something snarky, since I know you're trying to engage in good faith.
But based on the fact that the EC store lets you purchase exactly 4 kyros with a refresh of an entire week ... that comes out to not 234 kyros per episode, but a grand total of 16.
To be very fair, if I can complete most of the free track, I can get another 24. So that's a whopping 40 over a month. Adding in the existing 90 a month, that's 130.
That's still not much of a dent in the 2400 I still need to unlock GL Leia. And heaven forbid I use kyros for anything else in the meantime: 600 to get JML to g13, 500 still needed for Executor, hundreds for any characters newer than Shaak-Ti that I might want to get past g8. I'm looking at years to get enough kyros.
Honestly, this makes me feel like giving up. This is a game for whales. Anyone else, wait literal years.
