State of the game

Feel free to add anything you’d like and disagree with my assessment but please keep it civil.

From a lifetime gamer and investor in gaming stocks, I would like to address a few concerns regarding the current state of the game. First, let me say thank you to the CG development team for bringing us a quality and balanced game. It’s not easy to keep a game like this from getting stale or highly unbalanced and I must applaud you for the effort so far.

There have been a couple of major concerns bothering me lately and I’m worried how it will affect future development. First, regarding ships and grand arena; it seems to be a major oversight that total Galatic Power is used to match players when almost half of the GP will not be used for the game mode. There have been mismatches in every GA so far and anyone who has concentrated on their fleets is at a major disadvantage. I’m sure most of you know at least one person in your guild who has given up on GAs because of this. Seems in a competitive game mode, this should not have been an oversight.

Concerning GAs as well, the 3v3 mode seems like a cheap way to introduce a “new mode.” Personally, I’m not motivated to learn strategy or develop teams for 3v3. With how many characters there are now, it’s overwhelming to learn everything necessary to be competitive. There was absolute no effort needed to roll out this “new” content and yet, it requires more interaction from players.

This brings up the next problem which is the obligation versus the fun in this game. When any game starts to feels like a job, it is not a good sign for continued use/play. I’ve noticed in my guild and a few others that many are now just feeling obligated instead of enjoying the game. I can safely say no one in my guild enjoys the sith raid. Most avoid it and just post a few battles to climb the leaderboard slightly. Territory battles seems to be a battle over who can participate the least but just enough the guild will still get their stars.

For me personally, ships are my favorite part of the game but the release of the Millennium Falcon has started to change that. Not for the reason you are probably thinking. It’s actually easier to take number one in arena...no, I’m blown away the bug related to the Houndstooth and breach has still not been fixed. Since the HT was released, it has been bugged and the developers were made aware of it.

It has affected a competitive game mode for months, how could it be an oversight?

I’d like to keep this from getting too long and not turn into a “hate” thread so I’ll end it here. Feel free to add or disagree.

Trying my best not to give up on this game (player since Nov 2015).

  • You have my support OP, though honestly with how terrible the CG devs seem to be at most times and how they often lie to us, Really the only thing keeping me here is my Guild. If not for my awesome friends there, I'd have quit ages ago.

Insane power leaps (which honestly is made worse by the fact that you had to pay four hundred dollars to keep your rank in squad arena, and now ship arena has allowed people to buy their way to the top), Terrible implementations, bugged TW bonuses, A banned toon TW that it so far not what the community wanted no matter how much they lie and say it was what we wanted, terrible ships 2.0 changes that were never addressed, GA forced upon us which removed TW for a month, Bugged TB's, bugged GA's, A terrible Sith Raid launch followed by a gigantic ignored thread of "feedback" untill changes that feel like they were going to happen regardless of what we said, making this entire forum feel like an illusion, a fake facade to placate some hate and pretend its "feedback" that they actually read or listen to.

I could go on, but that's the Jist of my experiences :p

Its bugged because its dodging more then it should be, when you watch a HT dodge 7 attacks in a row with a "2%" chance, and that 2% chance happens each round 5-7 times a round, something is up :D
  • They are making money hand over fist. So I’m sure they think they’re doing amazing at game management and keeping it interesting. I’d like to see a truly fresh game mode that isn’t merely a mode with more arena battles all at once. But they’ll do what they do. I just don’t spend anymore. Between the Revanue fiasco and their lies about communication I’m firmly and proudly FTP. And where is that road ahead? If they aren’t a well managed company that can deliver on promises, maybe they shouldn’t make them.
  • imo it's only natural to loose interrest in the game over time, it's inevitable. If anything the devs have done a great job keeping me entertained this long.
The little things you took for granted when you were enjoying the game are gonna become points of frustration.
Personally i've just changed the way i play to keep enjoying the parts of the game i do enjoy without becomming overly frustrated with the things i don't like.
    To give a few examples:

    • i mostly do 0 dmg scores for all raids.
    • minimum effort on the 3v3 GA rounds
    • Only play fleet arena when i feel like it without feeling i'm missing out on crystals because it's simply not worth it for me personally.
    • If i get annoyed with TW, i simply don't sign up for the next one.

The devs also gave us quite a few "quality of life" upgrades like simable challenges, more hard node attempts, more buyable gear in the stores, introduce mod energy etc. I wouldn't mind an increased rate of progression right about now though, especially for the older characters.
Unlike many others, i do love the powercreep. It's one of the main reasons i'm still playing. I really don't care about the lack of communication. GA/TW matchmaking isn't that much of a problem for me, certainly not even close as as impactfull as arena leaderboard "luck" (about which no one seems to complain).
bugs are annoying, but they're the same for everyone.
Lastly i don't know how i feel about the "can't get it right the first time, ever" thingy ea/cg have going on. It sort of hilarious, but also kinda annoying. I mean, the trackrecord of not getting it right the first time is amazing, truly amazing.
PS. pre-nerf/pre-simable GW was my favorite game mode. #BringBackDifficultGW

Agreed and agreed. I thought I'd last less than 18 days...and I've been playing for about 18 months now.

Breach under HT is inflicting accuracy down instead of evasion down as described.

A lot of great points there @leef and seems most long-term players have taken the same approach to keep from getting burned out.

For me, it’s the lack of motivation that has me worried. This whole month, I feel obligated to log in and finish Swgoh “chores” for the day. I’m losing the enjoyment and really wish that wasn’t the truth.

For the last point you made, I agree how that can be extremely demoralizing. It’s the reason I became so upset over the HT bug. We have all put in a lot of time and effort (some loads of money as well) into this game and when something like that doesn’t get fixed right away, it sure feels like the Devs don’t care (or are more interested in finding ways to squeeze more cash out of us).
