Stop starting events on a Friday
Essentially the title says it all. If you can't afford to or be bothered to have 7 days a week Dev support - then for the love of god stop starting events last thing on a Friday & wait until Monday...

Refund GET only if GAS event is re-run. There are countless of players that could've unlocked him if they wanted to but decided to not do that as they didn't have the GET, a 5* GAS is pretty much useless and getting the GET takes months so getting him the 2nd time with less "panic gearing" just made sense.
