Man I am so tired of basically being told what characters to do. These chars are garbage. What's next? Nightsister initiate and ugnaught? It's getting ridiculous.
Deep down you know that's exactly what's next."Nikoms565;c-1233402" wrote:

TB undermines that. There is no way for me to help get my guild to the top level of play without simply saying, "Every day, farm this one terrible toon that nobody ever wanted, and in half a year you can help in the 7* battle."
So what you liked most before this event was being able to tell everyone what they should do, and now that they get to make decisions on their own you're discontented?
Wow. Way to completely and totally miss the entire point. I'll give you credit for one thing though...you can sure build a heck of a strawman.
You wrote a Vox article about why you don't want people to have to prioritize their energy because then they won't be going for the predefined characters you told them are important.
Everyone thinks everything they do is noble and good and pure. But we all like being the font of knowledge, so when things change people get defensive because it means they won't be the experts anymore. Doesn't mean things shouldn't change.
I didn't write anything - the poster you were replying to wasn't me. You can't argue both sides. In the other thread you posted a "noble" story about your guild being made up of lesser players who are real life friends and friends they brought in and that people are more important than progress - and yet in this thread you rip the guild leader who is basically suggesting the same. Pick a lane
This guy's telling his guildmates who to farm so they'll progress and give him rewards faster. Or because he gets off on telling people what they should do. I don't know, it's none of my business.
Do they want those characters? Are they playing a game or just ticking boxes off a list? Shoot, man, let them farm up that Lobot and Ugnaught team because they want a rhyming scheme. Who cares? Folks keep complaining "don't make me farm useless characters" while at the same time complaining that they're giving you a use for those characters.
So you guys pick a lane. Or get off the road, I don't care."NicWester;c-1233440" wrote:

Lol - or maybe he's helping them to get rewards faster. So when you stay with a lesser guild and "help them progress" it's noble just because you're a great guy? Yet when someone else does it, it's "getting off telling people what they should do"? Please. If it was none of your business, you wouldn't have attempted to call him out for doing the same thing you were being all sanctimonious about in the other thread."Nikoms565;c-1233522" wrote:

Because I'm not the one telling the developers "Don't make us farm this thing because I don't want to use them."
If he was interested in helping his guildmates he'd be saying "Yay, I can use my collection to get rewards for others. Me being good will make them better." NotTB undermines that. There is no way for me to help get my guild to the top level of play without simply saying, "Every day, farm this one terrible toon that nobody ever wanted, and in half a year you can help in the 7* battle."
Because there IS a way to help your guild to the top.
But, again, you can't complain about useless characters and at the same time also complain that those characters are being given a use."NicWester;c-1233226" wrote:

If that's what you get out of my post, you're just a scrooge. I visit this forum daily to try to get tips, insights, and other "healthy" take-aways. It's too bad we have to wade through posts like yours that are just totally negative. If you want to read my post again, and consider the overall gist, I think you'd see that I'm excited about TB. It is this HRSoldier that is bothersome.
In fact, my point is the exact opposite of what you think. I DON'T want to demand every one of my guildmates to farm this toon. That sucks. I said that I we help each other do the best we can in our own ways. If someone likes Jedi, we help them get the best Jedi squad they can. What about that is telling them what they should do? My job, as I see it, is to offer a direction, to steer the ship, to keep everyone on board. Why else would I want to have my own guild? What else is the purpose of a guild? We socialize as much as we strategize. We like each other and the operation of the guild.
Please also read the last two paragraphs of my post, in which I say I am excited for the chance to work with my guild to tackle TB.
My advice to you is to stop being a curmudgeon. Stop taking people's words out of context. And maybe give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes.- Today marked a huge milestone for me: 7* HRSo! I started his farm ages ago just because I wanted to; climb the mountain because it's there. Is it okay for me to get outraged if the devs put his shards in a store somewhere?
Everyone just slow down and take a breather. We don't really know much about these battles. HRSo may not make much of a difference. It could be that all this ranting is for naught, that HRSo will be given "advantages" on par with Jawas in HAAT, and you can all laugh at me for spending all that time farming him instead of Darth Nihilus. I will feel just fine about that.
I will also feel fine if the devs decide to add HRSo to, say, the Guild Store or something like that. They did it before with characters like Rey, Ewok Elder, and Resistance Trooper. So just keep at the slow farm until you know better. You need the hard nodes for your dailies anyway. "EventineElessedil;c-1233632" wrote:

I read his entire initial post and when I read your response I literally laughed out loud. You pulled what he said so far out of context I can only think you're either trolling or just felt like picking a fight today. Just stop."leef;c-1233275" wrote:

Any guilds excited here to hurry up and wait for your players to farm hrsoldier for the next year?
As leaders and officers it ain't right to be telling folks that pay to play this game to sacrifice their arena farming and fun for one toon that is a gate imo. But if we don't demand players to farm him then we are hurting all other members in guild which ain't right imo too.
This is a bit overdramatic isn't it? I'm sure most of the members in guilds that are driven enough to demand certain farms from their members have their arena teams in order. It's also not like farming HRSoldier takes alot of effort or resources, it just takes time.
It's not that different from raids either. I'm in a quite casual guild so we would never demand certain farms from members, but alot of us "sacrificed" other farms in order to be able to clear the heroic tier of both raids. One slight difference is that everyone benefits equally from the efforts of individual players, unlike raids. That's the downside of equal rewards. A small price to pay imo, but then again, i chose to be in a casual guild so my oppinion might differ from others their oppinions.
I get what you're saying, it puts the leadership of fanatic guilds in a somewhat unfavourable position having to impose farms on their members, but it's not like their arena rank is going to plummet because of it. Heck, it's probably even beneficial for the guild it's members in the long run.
I agree I'm in a casual guild to will we get top rewards nope but we don't tell our people what to do we just have fun- I'm 3/20 farming HRSo shards thus far. Thanks for the help.
If not for the 70 or shards I've got free from Bronzium pulls or rewards from sporadic events over 20 months of playing, I'd have precisely... 3 shards. I guess I'm 9-12 months away from 7* him.
Making HRSo so critical is a cheap stunt.
