What you need to actually create good matchmaking is formulate a ratio of total GP to the ratio of gear level/per character. Here are examples using round numbers for simplicity of explanation.
Example 1: a guild with 25 participating members averaging 1 million GP, total GP 25 mil. vs a guild with 50 participating members each averaging 500k gp, also totals 25mil. That 25 members participating guild is going to CRUSH the 50 every single time, without fail, but they would get matched up against each other.
Example 2: Guild "A" has 100 g10 characters totalling 100 mil GP. Guild "B" has 70 g12 characters also totalling 100mil GP. Guild "B" will win every single time, hands down, because of the nature of TW. You can just "keep throwing squads" at a g12 team to beat them. It is literally impossible. You could have ONE arena modded team take out a literally infinite amount of g10 characters, no matter how well they "counter" the other team.
Some guilds, like mine, went all-out on trying to bolster our GP for Territory Battles, where every ounce of your GP actually matters (unlike Territory War, where you 60k GP teams are worth less than Coruscant Underworld Police against Darth Traya). This has completely bit us in the butt because of the way that you calculate Territory War match ups, as other guilds that were more "single character focus" are guaranteed the win, every time. We get a few match ups here and there that are against similar guilds, but let me tell you, on a scale of 1 to Fun, having a CLOSE Territory War that we still lose is far better than just getting our collective butts kicked.
TLDR: You encouraged guilds to bolster their GP in Territory Battles and you are now punishing them for it through Territory Wars. You need to rework your formula, very very badly, even before this current fiasco of a matchup for yesterday's TW (every guild I'm hearing from was either matched above or below by at least 20%)
I'm also hoping you find it in your hearts to offer compensation and actually admit your mistake (because there is no way yesterday was not a screw up on some ones end). All we ask for is honesty and transparency when it comes to these sorts of issues. Communication = good customer service.
