Gear's really not a grind any more. I haven't farmed it seriously in a month. (With energy, anyway--I have farmed with the aforementioned currencies.)
I addressed this earlier. Zeta mats are important to grab from the guild shop. Now with TB, rarer ships are important as well. Gear 12 pieces are important from the event store. Not to mention the unknown of Hermit Yoda. And salvage pieces from the store aren't "cheap". Even with the advent of those buys, it's still $4-$5 worth of crystals for 20 salvage. Gear is absolutely a grind. It hasn't kept up with the growth of the game. We all don't have endless sums of money to throw around on crystals to afford gear.
