It's not really specifically capitalism, it's just common sense. Literally the game developers rely on the whales for their jobs/income. If people aren't putting money into the game, there's no more game and no more job. So are they going to listen to the people signing their paychecks, or random strangers on the street?
If you think it's wrong for EA/CG to try to make money from the game and listen to feedback from paying customers, well then I really just don't know what to tell you.
