From what I'm gathering it seems like universally speaking everyone is hungry for more content.
It makes sense.
Think about it this way. There are a variety of goals currently in the game. Of course they are relative based on different people and I'm sure I'm missing some but the ones that come to mind are (in no particular order):
Do well in arena
Do well in raids
Do well in GW
Do well in fleet
Collect gear
Get decent-good-great mods
Collect different toons (and star them as high as you can)
Beat regular/weekly, marquee or rare events
For a new player, that's a lot to digest. I'm sure early on for most people it seems like there was an endless slew of things to do (FTP, big spenders etc, in this respect that feeling applied to everyone).
Towards the endgame assuming long time players and new whales got their rosters to a good place (in terms of gears and mods and stars) which would account for at least a decent portion of the user base, it's safe to assume that arena, raids, GW and fleet have become state due to parity in mods/gear/level cap/abilities ... as well as over familiarity with opponents along with establish relationships that often determine the outcome in both arenas.
So what's next?
Make more events? That hasn't exactly led to a surge in renewed vigor from the base and aside from DN, no new reworks or toons have moved the diversity or meta needle in the past 3-4 months, with the exception of R2 to a certain degree.
It all points to a need for more game modes or some augmentation of existing modes to keep people interested, spending and more importantly - giving them more goals to shoot for. Once you achieve a certain plateau, there isn't much incentive to invest more resources (sic money, time) after a certain period of time. Or if you know the outcome will be similar (where the shard reaches a place that offense always wins, but D is squiffy at best) regardless of what you do (as a result of a handful of meta toons that dictate the top of arena) ... and you're already plowing through GW like it's a task and not a challenge ... you know it's time that this game needs some kind of major improvement beyond QoL.
Fun is part of the user experience. Give people good content and they will keep coming.
