The event is hard because people refuse to do it with anything but the least amount of effort possible because they only ever listen to the forum circlejerk about how phoenix is mudkips trash tier and not worth investing in at all.
To hell with that. Phoenix squad is fine. You won't finish in the top 10 with them, but they're a perfectly serviceable team that will do the job in any situation. If you've already got a solo team for each phase of HAAT, then sure, they're not needed for that--but whenever new content is announced you can guarantee that you're going to do alright if you use Phoenix.
