Training droids definitely will help even out the leveling bottlenecks. Not often, but every now and then the bottleneck switches from credits to training droids for me. Especially when new content is released. Its easier to hoard credits than training droids in general, given the recent changes to GW rewards and more consistent credit heists showing up. Depending on raid placement, that is also a significant source of credits.
