People are likely just playing the tb the wrong way trying to exploit reward structure. Seems like the devs put a fail safe in place to prevent people from taking advantage of rewards.
These cases are usually the fault of players for playing wrong.
Let me explain...
If you do 2 special missions in 1 day your messing up your whole guild so just tell all 50 people which mission to do and dont let anyone do the other one, make sure you get a star and u get rewards. Guilds poorly organized are penalized. It works... this is how players should be playing. Anything outside of this approved approach is likely viewed as trying to game the system by the devs, so they blocked rewards.
This has been reported a lot and I'm not sure that it has been confirmed as a bug so going with wai until I hear differently.
The OP has stated that they have used this approach without issue. So your explanation is built on pillars of sand.
No. OP did 2 at once and didnt star the area the first day.

My guild played Geo TB and some of my guildmates successfully did the Wat Tambor mission during phase 3. Unfortunately we did not received the shards. The whole guild. During same phase, some did the acklay mission (south territory of 'phase 2') and we did not received the GET2 neither.
During phase 4, we replayed the mid territory of phase 3 as we did not 1 star it at the first time. One other guildmate did the wat tambor mission, and, that time, at the end of the phase, we received 1 wat tambor shard, but still not the ones earned in the previous phase

No shards if u dont star seems like is what's happening. When they did star it they got shards, but o ly for what they completed in that phase, not the day before (since they didnt star) is what I'm saying.
