can verify - this happened exactly as OP stated. Last TB got half a dozen shards day 3 (just short of 1 star) and a few more shards again on day 4 (the people that didn't do it day 3).

This TB, at least a half dozen people completed event day 3 (just short of 1 star) and one member did event day 4. Only received the 4th day rewards (1 shard).
