That sunk cost fallacy probably does apply at the top end of spenders, but the statistics reveal that to be less than 1% of players.
Why such universal dismissal of the instant upgrade? Because the majority of the rest of paying players aren't hooked by the same fallacy I assume.
And that SHOULD be marketing advice too, but it comes from players not marketers with statistics and so carries less weight.
Statistics might reveal we are all liars and don't spend more on better and lower cost IAP. And so wringing the dry stone and perpetuating the sunk cost fallacy win the day.
