What is with the Pathetic Drop Rates in this game

i have spent over 60 dollars on gems trying to farm old ben shards for the CLS event and didnt even get 12 shards how can they be so bad this was the first time in a very long time i have spent money ...

Because its not "Random Number Generator" it is "Selective Number Generator". RNG would mean you have an 'equal' chance of getting something. SNG means they put "specific" % chances on what you want/need that are lower than the stuff you end up getting that has a 98% chance of popping up.

In the case of characters, I think someone said there's a 33% chance in light/dark for shards to show up and in Cantina a 20/25% chance for drops? I wouldn't be surprised either way, but that is SNG at its finest. :P
