What Might be Required for Maul?
Lots of rumors are swirling that a new Maul is coming to the game soon. It's unknown whether he will be a Legendary, Journey, Confrontation, but I thought it would be interesting to theorize what toons might be required to unlock him from a lore perspective:
Legendary: Legendary characters are unlocked by defeating them with a specific faction. There is already a legendary character that is unlocked with the Jedi faction (Grandmaster Yoda), so if Maul is a legendary character, the faction to unlock him would likely be Clones.
Journey: Journey characters are unlocked with using an existing version of the character and four other specific allied characters. For Maul, that would likely mean Darth Maul, Savage Opress, and Mother Talzin. The other two needed characters would depend on which specific version of Maul is coming. It could be Bo-Katan and Pre Viszla (who is not yet in the game) if it's the early Clone Wars era Maul, Gar Saxon and Rook Kast (who is not yet in the game) if it's the later Clone Wars era Maul, or Ezra and Fulcrum Ahsoka if it's the Rebels era Maul.
Epic Confrontation: Confrontation characters are unlocked with a specific set of five allied toons and five opposing toons. For Maul, the allied toons could be Savage Opress, Bo-Katan, Pre Viszla (not yet in the game), and a Death Watch Commando (not yet in the game), since this is the squad he brought with him to confront Black Sun. The enemy toons could be General Kenobi, Adi Gallia (not yet in the game), and Hondo (not yet in the game); or Ahsoka (re-skinned), Rex, ARC Trooper, and Clone Sergeant.
