Why are first order and resistance capital ships still available as events?

As requirements for unlocking slkr and Rey events why are these capital ships still available as events to complete despite the ships also being available in shard shops. I'm so tired of seeing these events everyday thinking they are something new when I've had these ships done along time ago. I understand it might be for new players but if the devs can lock characters in raid shop when players have them at 7 stars then there's no reason for these events to be stuck in limbo and serve no purpose for those who have the ships done.
