Why deadlines are following DST nowadays?

Why are events following US DST nowadays, even though this hasn't happened ever before? Because of that, I missed GAC signing up because I thought that the deadline is still at 24:00 like it was the whole winter. And here in Finland we haven't turned the clocks yet. And if this is the new norm, why there haven't been any notifications about it?

  • Hi @BlitzkriegArmada

This isn't a new occurrence. It happens twice a year, every year in-game. Daylight savings time (DST) will mean the times in-game are going to go forward an hour or back an hour depending. As the company is based in America, when DST happens over there, the time change comes into effect in-game for everyone. It can catch you by surprise if you're not keeping an eye out for the change.

If you'd need to update your payout time, this guide will share how: Change your reward payout times in STAR WARS™: Galaxy of Heroes. It can be done twice a year but if the wrong time was accidentally entered when trying to update the payout time, please contact EA Help support directly. They'll do their best to help you out. Keep in mind, they can only revert the Time Zone to what it was before and don't set a new time zone.

    Thanks,

  • @EA_Lanna I am still skeptical about that, but I had to believe it if you say so. I still have memories that, the last summer the GAC signing-up deadline would have been at 23:00 in Finnish time, and of course, memories that DST would not have affected the deadlines in anyways. But those must be false memories then.

    Hi @BlitzkriegArmada

If it helps address your scepticism about needing to adjust for DST, please look at the timestamps besides the creation of these threads on the topic:

    1. The Road Ahead: 11/09/2018 and the Mega Thread to discuss it - From 2018, by CG_Carrie. Search for 'Payout' to quickly find the portion on the player-controlled payout/time zone changes.
    2. Payout Reset Time Calculator - From 2018 by CG_SBCrumb. He created an Excel sheet to help show how a time change would reset the in-game timers so you could find the time change that'd best suit you based on those calculations.
    3. Daylights Saving is this Weekend - From 2019 by CG_SBCrumb. At the time it was to help people get used to adjusting their times so as not to be caught by the shift.
    4. How to change reward payouts in STAR WARS™: Galaxy of Heroes - From 2019, prepared by myself. Search for 'Daylight Savings Time' to quickly find the portion calling attention to that occurrence in light of payout reward changes.

If you'd like to go back through the years in the Dev Announcements and News category you'd probably encounter more dated content on the topic. Hopefully, the threads linked above suffice. 😅

    Thanks,
