Bad comparison. In cops and robbers you're either a cop going after a robber or a robber escaping a cop.
Light side can fight light side, dark side can fight dark side, and you can mix light and dark characters within the same team. You can have four Hans and a non-canon character go up against Darth Vader on the same team as Anakin Skywalker.
You can do anything you want. What people mostly want is to be lazy and get rewards, so they follow a meta. If the meta shifts so dark side characters are better they'll switch to that.
I'm not saying don't make dark side characters or don't add dark side content. I'm saying your argument is fundamentally flawed.
