Zeta Mat Drop Rate

I track my zetas pretty carefully in a spreadsheet - anyone else feel (I know its RNG, so I would need a larger sample size) that the drop rate is noticeably lower since the recent quality of life updates and the Sith Raid launch?
  • I get one every other week from the Ship ability token challenge. No complaining either. That’s a good turnout from what I am told.
  • Nope. I got 3 yesterday. 1 today. Last week I got 2 for the week.

    Same as usual.

    Care to share your statistics?
  • Today was the first time I've gotten skunked in weeks, I felt like they bumped the drop rate up.
  • @Zwanni_420 and @Kyno - Zwanni's post is interesting to me (although it is anecdotal) and I completely understand @DapperChewie 's point that it is "RNG" - so don't think about it too much.

The thing about Random Number Generators is they are not really random at all (full disclosure is that I have a lot of experience in this field). Any algorithm for generating random numbers is subject to the quality of the programming that has gone into it. Additionally most RNG algorithms take a "seed" number that is usually related to the GUID or UUID of the person that is interacting with the RNG. Usually the result is sufficiently random that with a small sample size it is difficult to determine a pattern, but with a large enough sample size a pattern will be identifiable. RNGs are generally only Pseudo-Random Number Generators. For instance, based on how the algorithm might work Zwanni and I could have swapped our patterns of "randomly" generated result numbers. Or maybe I thought too much about this already, because the "seed" number is the same for everyone and it is just bad luck that I am annoyed with.

Previously my drop rate was consistently 22-23%, so far in March it is 4%. At the end of the day, instead of anecdotal data my question is simple and is for Kyno or a developer/support person for EA/CG - did the RNG algorithm get adjusted in the quality of life update?

  • I dont work for EA and have no access to any of that information.

I also have a fair amount of experience in programming and it is extremely easy using a simple clock to help seed a RNG function that will have no pattern, except for following the bell curve to create the statistical mean you are looking for.

even the data you are showing i would say is not large enough to pull statistically accurate information from. most true data will take 100s of points to get to the mean, but this is not my program so i have no way of knowing what the true spread is.
  • Last summer I got 2 zeta mats in a 7 week period from the challenges. So I just figured I was due for those shenanigans.
